Mountainverse — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Summary

Mountainverse has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The app does not collect, store, sell or share personal data, and there is no Mountainverse server that knows who you are. The few things the app does on your device, and the services it talks to, are described below.

Data stored on your device

Your settings (theme, language, units, map style), your favourite mountains and the 3D models you download are stored only on your device. They never leave it, and deleting the app removes them. You can delete downloaded models at any time in Settings → Downloads.

Location

If you tap “Add my location” on the comparison screen, the app asks for permission to use your location once, while the app is in use. Your elevation is used on the device to compare you with the mountains. To show a place name, the coordinates are passed to the operating system’s geocoding service (Apple on iOS, Google on Android). Your location is not stored and is never sent to us.

Camera

The AR view uses the camera to place a mountain on a surface around you. The camera image is processed live on the device by the system’s AR framework. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded. A picture is saved or shared only if you tap the share button, through the system share sheet.

Services the app connects to

To show content, the app downloads data from the services below. Like any internet request, these requests reveal your device’s IP address and basic technical information (such as the app name and version) to the service. They contain nothing about you, and we do not combine them with anything else.

  • Mountain models and images: assets.mustafasavul.com, served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may keep short-lived request logs for security and abuse prevention.
  • Summit weather: MET Norway (api.met.no). The request contains the summit’s coordinates, not yours.
  • Maps: Apple Maps on iOS; OpenFreeMap, Mapzen terrain tiles (AWS Open Data) and EOX Sentinel-2 cloudless imagery for the mountain maps.
  • Links you open: Wikipedia, map apps and source pages open in your browser or the related app, under their own privacy policies.

Purchases

If the app offers in-app purchases, payment is handled entirely by Apple (or Google Play). We receive no payment or personal information, only the store’s confirmation that a purchase is valid.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal data, we do not collect data from children.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Data protection laws such as the GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK still give you these rights; write to us with any question.

Changes

If this policy changes, the current version is published at the same address with a new date.
